Patella Tendon Bearing Orthoses (PTB)

Patella Tendon Bearing Orthosis is a custom ankle foot orthosis with external bracing designed to unweight the ankle or heel. Off-loading up to 100% of forces, it utilizes a below-the-knee socket design that imposes anterior or posterior pressure.

This orthotic device serves patients with a variety of needs, such as:
  • Heel ulcers
  • Calcanectomy
  • Plantar skin graft
  • Severe foot or ankle trauma
  • Chronic ankle pain or ankle fusion

Patients with a posterior tendon disorder due to a collapsed navicular bone in the foot have also gained welcomed relief.

At INOVA we have seen amazing improvements with this brace.  The wearer obtains better body alignment, putting less stress on the body and allowing for a wider range of activities and improved overall health. Better outcomes for users include healing wounds and relieving ankle pain.

People who couldn’t walk because of too much pain can now get out and enjoy an active life.
